Why we love the old classics and the not so classic movies: It may be because we had no real television to watch and so we were exposed to them or as time went on the television industry used them for late night showings. But it may be because we grew up at the Saturday Matinee, the shorts, serials, and of course the main feature. Remember when you were ten years old and couldn't wait for Saturday to come so you could go to the double feature matinee at the neighborhood theater? You would do anything to get your chores done so Dad would give you your allowance. Then you would run to the movie house and get there early so you could discuss with the guys the new movies that were playing that day and to figure out how the serial's hero was going to get out of the sure trap the villain had set for him. As we grew up our love for the classic movies remained. Most certainly it was a time of different values. Old-fashioned moral values like them or not, played a big part in shaping old films (just as all kinds of restrictions, throughout history, have always shaped art). Sex scenes were verboten, as were graphic violence and foul language. What's more, special effects were in their infancy, not to be relied upon to make or break a movie. The absence of these possibilities from the repertoire available to filmmakers put a premium on something called words - and thus writing - to convey the essence of a movie. Imagine that - a good script was the most important thing for a filmmaker to have. No matter what the reason thousands of us love the old classic films, not just because of memories, but because they are well made and entertaining. The more you see old movies, the better they get. You begin to appreciate the family of artists that made them, the pedigree of each film. Oh and don’t forget about my favorite genre the B sci-fi / horror films. When we were young the atomic age was upon us and of course the movie industry jumped on the band wagon. I think love of this genre and the comedies started us down the collecting road. What started as collecting memories grew into a business and today we carry over 600 classic titles on DVD and can special order over 2500 more. We can find most any movie you can think of. We sell only commercially released movies (no bootlegs). Email your request and we will quote a price, or tell you were you can buy it. We do not offer bootleg movies and all our movies are region 1 or 0 (region free). Because our markets are our main source of sales and the fact that people love to browse our hundreds of stock DVD’s, our web stores offer a limited inventory. However our goal for 2012 is to grow our web store and offer over 500 titles. One of our long term goals to produce our own quality line of public domain movies. We currently own over 140 masters and as funds allow we will begin producing DVD’s.

Bonanzle

After being named the best eBay alternative in July by Ecommerce Guide, Bonanzle was again named the best eBay alternative last week, this time by SmallBusinessComputing! This is no mean feat! This venue offers free booths, very easy file uploads and edits and is growing at a fantastic rate. This should be enough to draw sellers but the most important part of being a buyer or seller at Bonanzle is the personal contact. You can chat live with the seller and buyer. Have great fun or get help in the discussion forum and this is the best thing the owners are very proactive. You can email them and get answers, they respond to suggestions for improvement by members and are the main reason this site is the best alternative selling and buying venue on the web.
